About Us

Office Building 2.jpg

Glasgow Insurance Agency was formed in 1962 with the doors officially opened to customers on January 2, 1963. The two agency principals were Jerry L. Hardison and Beulah Nunn, wife of former Kentucky governor Louie Nunn. The agency began in a one room office located on the second floor of the Trigg Building at 135 N. Public Square, Glasgow, Kentucky. In October of 1965, we were able to move to a downstairs location just off the square at 210 West Main Street. At that time, our first employee was hired, Waldeen Settle, who is still well known and respected as a businesswoman in our area.

In November 1965, we purchased the Clyde F. Martin Insurance Agency and immediately began looking for a larger location to better serve our clients. We were able to purchase our current location at 318 S. Green Street and relocate in mid 1966 after an extensive remodeling project.

Our building is a historic building dating back to the 1920s when it was occupied as Hill Service Co. as a service station/truck stop. This was the only truck stop between Louisville and Nashville at that time. The canopy over the parking area was built tall enough to allow large trucks to pull underneath. The sleeping rooms for truckers that were traveling through the area can still be seen upstairs. Whizzer Motor Bikes were also sold from this location for several years.

Beulah Nunn resigned from the agency in 1972 and Jerry became the sole owner at that time.

On October 6, 1980, Jerry’s daughter, Debbie Birge joined the Agency as Vice President.

Jerry’s Grandson, Jonathan, joined the agency in 2004, which will continue our agency through the third generation.
